Location: A Succulent Day, 2753 W. State Street, Boise ID 83702
Join Nick Roberts from Gem State Carnivores and make your own carnivorous bowl!
At the workshop you will learn about Pinguicula (pronounced “Ping-wick-u-la”), commonly known as Butterworts, a genus of carnivorous flowering plants. Butterworts are particularly good at eating pesky gnats and fruit flies. They do so by trapping their prey with sticky glands and excrete digestive fluids under and near the captured prey item. You can actually see the digestive juices on the leaves after they have caught an insect!
You will also get your hands dirty by planting your own Pinguicula bowl with the expert guidance of Nick. You will leave the workshop with a beautiful bowl of carnivorous plants ready to devour the pesky gnats at home, plus you will have the knowledge to care for them and see them grow.
The ticket includes:
Three Pinguicula plants
6” Gemstone low bowl (there will be an assortment of colors to pick from)
Potting medium
Decorative rocks
Use of tools during the workshop
Expert carnivorous plant instruction
This workshop is limited to 12 people. Each person must purchase a ticket to participate.
